We balance strengthening with stretching to gain overall balance within the physical body. This class offers soothing a soothing relaxation period to de-stress and let the body release toxins (i.e. physical, emotional, psychological). Gentle Yoga is open to All Levels and is a good place for newbies to begin. Gentle Yoga is also good for those who are recovering from injury or dis-ease.
Hot Practice
Teacher(s): Jenni, Susan, Mandy
This is an intermediate practice, prior yoga experience recommended. We heat the room up to 85-95 degrees and flow through a series of poses to strengthen the muscles and utilize the heat to stretch deep muscle tissues. The heat allows your muscles to expand and stretch safely and move further than you are able to in a cooler practice room. When practicing in the heat it is important to honor your own body and rest as needed. We recommend that you have water on hand (No Ice!) to sip during the practice as your body sweats out toxins. If you have questions about our Hot Practice and if it would be appropriate for you, please ask.

Yin Yoga
Teacher(s): Jenni
Yin Yoga is a unique style which is characterized by its long held postures. Yin yoga is appropriate for ALL abilities and levels of practitioner. In this class you will explore poses which target the deep connective tissues of the joints, especially of the lumbar spinal area. This practice can rehabilitate back injuries, relieve sciatic distress, and bring about a calmer mind. Outwardly the practice looks quite passive, but any Yin practitioner will tell you otherwise. It takes determination and strength of will to over come the natural tendency to change positions when discomfort arises in the body, in Yin we look the discomfort in the eye and hold steady to our posture. After the long hold (up to 7 min), we make minimal movements and experience whatever sensations arise in the body or mind. This is a wonderful stand alone practice, as well as an invaluable supplement to your regular yoga practice (known as yang style).

Mindfulness Yoga
Teacher: Monica
Mindfulness Yoga is an awareness-based practice that allows the practitioner to cultivate and access the inner wisdom that is inherent in all of us. Through the simple practice of attentiveness to the combination of our breath, body, thoughts and emotions, mindfulness practitioners can respond to the challenges presented to them in their daily lives, and respond to those challenges from a place of inner peace and balance, as well as outer stability. Through mindfulness practice, we can safely observe the way things are without judgment or expectation. The combination of asana practice with mindfulness awareness is illuminating, calming and healing.
Mindfulness is about being fully aware of whatever is happening in the present moment, without judgment. It consists of cultivating awareness of the mind and body and living in the here and now.
Mindfulness is a way of learning how to relate directly to your breathing, your asana practice, and eventually leads to improvement in all aspects of daily living.
Rei-Yo: A Healing Yoga (Reiki Inspired Yoga)
Teacher: Monica
Rei-Yo is a healing practice created from the fusion of yoga asana practice with the self-healing hand and energy movements of Usui Reiki, an ancient healing tradition. It is a gentle, yet energizing practice that sends a powerful healing energy through the body. Participants will learn how to apply the Reiki hand placements for self-healing and stress reduction, and then apply those in various complimentary asanas.
The practice begins with a brief healing reflection and intention, and moves into a fluid asana practice that flows in a slow, gentle, yet empowering dance of movements ending in a meditation for removing blocks in energy flow.
This is a wonderful practice for stress reduction, healing from previous injury, as well as revitalizing depleted energy.
