Classes

All Levels

Teacher(s): Jenni

All Levels practice is a GREAT place to start and continue for those who want a straight forward practice with the ability to grow into more advanced versions of postures or simply maintain a regular practice routine. All Levels caters to the Beginning level student, but provides excellent instruction on proper alignments and breathing techniques so the Intermediate level student can check in with their own bodies and make sure they are keeping in line with good foundation principles to avoid injury and stress to the body and mind as they grow.

Ashtanga – Primary

Teacher(s): Ross, Jenni

Ashtanga Yoga is a system of yoga from the lingeage of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois which synchronizes breath with movement creating a dynamic flow, intense heat, detox/purification of the body, and a calm mind. Continued practice results in improved circulation, steady mind, and a strong yet light body.

This class is a guided journey through the Primary Series as taught by our teachers. Students are encouraged to develop a daily practice of the Primary Series as was recommended by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. The Primary Series is the first flow which must be mastered before one can continue on to the next levels of practice within the Ashtanga system. Ashtanga Yoga is a lifetime practice and one can expect to be challenged for years to come upon beginning the Primary Series.

Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic practice that can be modified to fit any level of participation. Some prior yoga experience is helpful when beginning to learn the Primary Series.

Core Builder

Teacher(s): Jenni

When your core is strong you have the confidence and energy to take on the challenges that life throws your way. This class challenges the body and mind as you develop stamina and strength in your core. Techniques are drawn from a variety of styles and lineages resulting in a fluid yet grounding practice.

Gentle Yoga

Teacher(s): Jenni

Gentle Yoga takes a slower approach to the posture (asana) flow. We take time in postures to relax and learn to feel the poses in our own bodies. We balance strengthening with stretching to gain overall balance withing the physical body. This class offers soothing a soothing relaxation period to de-stress and let the body release toxins (i.e. physical, emotional, psychological). Gentle Yoga is open to All Levels and is a good place for newbies to begin. Gentle Yoga is also good for those who are recovering from injury or dis-ease.

Intermediate – HEATED

Teacher(s): Jenni

This is an intermediate practice, prior yoga experience recommended. We heat the room up to 85-95 degrees and flow through a series of poses to strengthen the muscles and utilize the heat to stretch deep muscle tissues. The heat allows your muscles to expand and stretch safely and move further than you are able to in a cooler practice room. When practicing in the heat it is important to honor your own body and rest as needed. We recommend that you have water on hand (No Ice!) to sip during the practice as your body sweats out toxins. If you have questions about our Hot Practice and if it would be appropriate for you, please ask.

This class is open to All Levels; but moves at an intermediate pace. We work through classic Sun Salutations as well as link other postures together following the breath. The word Vinyasa means “breath centered flow”, so we do just that…. move with the breath. This is an intermediate to challenging practice and will build heat in the body.

Prenatal Yoga

Teacher(s): Jenni

This is the class for moms-to-be! Prenatal Yoga is a gentle style of yoga which works to strengthen and stretch birthing muscle groups getting you ready for labor. You will be taught helpful breath techniques (pranayama) to calm and sooth the body and mind both during prenatal months and when things get a little intense during labor. There is a wonderful focus on connecting to your baby as well as taking time for yourself to just RELAX! Imagine that…. a place to come and just relax for a few minutes with nothing special to do. You can begin this class at ANY time during pregnancy. It is never too late or too early to begin (you can even begin pre-conception to balance hormones and get the body ready as well as stay in this class post-natal to heal and recover from birth).

***Many women have their first experience with yoga during their prenatal months, we will guide you and help you with any questions or concerns you may have about beginning a Prenatal Yoga practice. Just ask!

Beginning Level

Teacher(s): Ross

This is a wonderful practice for everyone, especially beginners who desire a gentle class without any pressure to work into more advanced posturing or breathworks. This class provides a practice which is easy to follow for beginners, but allows the more advanced practitioner room to grow and go deeper into postures. We mainly focus this class on static postures (asanas) and hold them for a few breaths to gain strength and work with our own body’s resistance.

Yin Yoga

Teacher(s): Jenni

Yin Yoga is a unique style which is characterized by its long held postures. Yin yoga is appropriate for ALL abilities and levels of practitioner. In this class you will explore poses which target the deep connective tissues of the joints, especially of the lumbar spinal area. This practice can rehabilitate back injuries, relieve sciatic distress, and bring about a calmer mind. Outwardly the practice looks quite passive, but any Yin practitioner will tell you otherwise. It takes determination and strength of will to over come the natural tendency to change positions when discomfort arises in the body, in Yin we look the discomfort in the eye and hold steady to our posture. After the long hold (up to 7 min), we make minimal movements and experience whatever sensations arise in the body or mind. This is a wonderful stand alone practice, as well as an invaluable supplement to your regular yoga practice (known as yang style).
