Jenni and Ross are your hosts at Evolutions and they have really changed quite a bit about this studio since buying it from the former owner. The first thing you’ll notice on entering Evolutions is the beautiful, brightly colored mural lovingly painted on the reception area wall. I’m not sure where Jenni came up with her composition ideas for this piece, but it really fits the studio’s moniker. Also among my fave features of this studio: the devotional wall on the west side of the reception area. Here you will find handwritten thoughts, meditations and a carefully considered collection of many, if not all, of yoga’s leaders – past and present….Krishna Das, Pattabhi Jois, Swami Satchitananda and so forth. I, for one, love this touch – it is rare to see this kind of unabashed love for the great masters and inspirational leaders on display for admiration and a nod of appreciation in many of the local yoga studios. And, if you’re not familiar with these notables of the yoga world, you’ll still find something on this wall that speaks to you most likely, as Jenni and Ross are of the all-embracing, solitary consciousness path.
The classes at Evolutions include a little something for everybody, whether you are just trying to get your mind around the idea of yoga, want to become more fit, or are somewhere in-between. If you really want to experience pure yoga in a yoga-devoted setting – and not some gym or fitness center – this is your place on the southside! Jenni was trained and certified through Nancy Schalk and Ann Miller at All People Yoga Center in Nora. She also practiced there for a long time before taking the teacher certification plunge and I remember her even then as somebody for whom yoga was a personal path and not simply an exercise routine. It came as no surprise to me that she found a way to purchase the former Sacred Space when it became available.
As an absolute beginner, I am receiving the best in the Beginners Class to ensure I learn the mechanics of the poses and movement into the poses technically correct. Also, learning to breathe properly is an added bonus.
I’ve been practicing at Evolutions since the fall of 2010 and felt as if I was in good hands from my first Ashtanga Primary Series class. All of the instructors are helpful, knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. Evolutions always has something for everyone and they provide an environment where you feel comfortable trying some of the things they offer that may be new to you. Your practice can grow at Evolutions.

I love this place! I have practiced with several of the instructors here, and I have been very happy with each of them. They are a very dedicated group of people. I’m happy to call Evolutions Yoga my home for yoga.
Awesome knowledge and amazing atmosphere that can definitely change your life!
Stepping way out of my comfort zone, I purchased a daily deal for 6 sessions at Evolutions @ Yoga, and I fell in love with the place. As someone new to yoga, I found them to be very friendly and helpful, and I never felt uncomfortable. I left the place feeling calmed and centered. I’ve since tried out other options in the area, but have not found anything I even remotely liked, I’ll be back to Evolutions soon.

I really enjoy the atmosphere at Evolutions, Jenni and Ross are fantastic and really go out of their way to be welcoming.
I have only had the pleasure of practicing at Evolutions since the fall of 2010 but was hooked after tentatively joining in on my first Ashtanga Primary Series class. Jenni and Ross are welcoming and helpful, always ready to patiently answer questions in person or via a prompt email response. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable completely lacking the gym like feel of some studios.
Having participated in primarily Hatha and Hatha inspired community classes I gained the courage to give Ashtanga try after an 8 week Vinyassa class elsewhere. Ross and Jenni made me feel welcome to give it a try beginning with their response to my email asking for more information about Ashtanga. I loved it after my first class. I kept coming back and I wasn’t sure what made it so appealing until Jenni described it as eventually becoming a moving meditation. At that point it dawned on me that she had just put into words what had always been my experience of and the main appeal of yoga for me. I find these gently offered bits of thoughtful, inspirational, and encouraging information add a lot to the meditative experience of a class at Evolutions. Don’t get me wrong, the classes are challenging, vigorous and the time flies by. You know you have challenged your body and have had the opportunity to grow in your practice when you walk out of a Primary series class! I have also attended a few Gentle Yoga classes and found them just as well run and to be precisely what they were advertised as.
